How to Know if You Have a Good Friend

“The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and He makes known to them His covenant.” – Psalms 25:14

I talked to a friend this week and it was so refreshing. We both have been pretty busy and have thought of each other but somehow let a lot of time pass before we talked. She initially called just to check on me, but you know how it is…. One topic of conversation led to another, and so on. Before we realized it, we had talked for almost four hours! There was laughing, some crying, and some more laughing. We ended our conversation with prayer and stood in agreement over the things that we discussed.

Before we ended the call, my friend spoke such a word of encouragement to me. She spoke of how she saw such strength in me even as I was being vulnerable. Sometimes we have strengths that we may feel are not anything spectacular; but through the eyes of a friend, they can show you things about yourself that you haven’t seen.

A good friend will pray for you, encourage you, challenge you, be honest with you, and simply do life with you.

I thank God for all of my friends and the uniqueness that God has placed in each of them. I am also thankful for the new friends that I will make as I start this journey of blogging. I pray that you are blessed with each post and that you would begin to write or create in whatever way that God has called you to. What qualities do you value most in a friend? What is the best thing about you being a friend to others?
